Attaching the pouch
It feels like it will take too much pressure to apply
When you apply the pouch to the barrier, keep your hand flat over the coupling rings and press your fingers in a wave-like motion over the coupling to ‘click’ the pouch and barrier into place. Pressing flat against the coupling may help to avoid the temptation to push with your fingertips… try to see how little pressure you can use to attach the pouch!
I’m struggling to apply the pouch – if I can’t do it, how will my patients?
Try applying the pouch to a barrier adhered to a table or on yourself before working with your patient. Once you have a feel for it, the coupling should be easy to apply. Additionally, since the coupling requires one gentle press and squeeze of the lock, there’s no need to repeatedly pinch the coupling together to secure it in place.

The coupling seems to leak, smells, or collects stool in the sections
Just as stool can collect in the crevices of other 2-piece barriers, removing / replacing the pouch (or ‘burping’ to expel gas) can expose the coupling to output. If / when you remove a pouch, quickly wipe both rings of the coupling clean to make sure output doesn’t get trapped between the coupling rings.
The lock
Why does the pouch have a lock?
Do you lock your front door? Even though the lock is an extra step after you close the door, it helps us feel secure that the door will stay shut, and only open when we want it to. The lock on the pouch does the same thing – it locks the pouch into place, so you know it’s secure.
The lock seems like an extra step – I’m worried about time
Many products require repeated pinching, pressing, or sealing all the way around the coupling until the pouch is fully attached to the barrier. If the coupling isn’t fully attached, all the way around, leaks can happen… have you seen this happen? How do you make sure the pouch is fully attached?
SenSura ® Mio Click is quick to apply. The coupling ‘clicks’ into place with only a gentle press; squeezing the lock ensures it’s secure. Once it’s on, you know it’s on.
I’m not sure how to unlock
Find the textured dots on both sides of the lock with your thumb and forefinger. Pinch the textured parts together to unlock. If you or your patient have neuropathy, you may need to practice for a moment to get a feel for unlocking the lock – just as you may have had to feel out how to press the buttons on a smartphone screen.
The lock ring broke or fell off
When you remove the pouch, be sure to use the clear, silicone removal tab at the top of the coupling - the lock is NOT intended to remove the pouch.
