This educational module is designed to increase knowledge related to intermittent catheterization teaching. It is part 2 of a 3-part series. The learner will be able to:
- Define the initial assessment of a patient learning how to perform intermittent self-catheterization (ISC)
- Identify psychological barriers exhibited by patients learning to perform catheterization
- List the limitations of performing ISC in relation to mobility and dexterity
- Describe the various positions males and females can assume when perform ISC
- Understand how to determine frequency of catheterization based on residual urine volume
