Usage

Biatain® Silicone Ag can be used for a wide range of exuding wounds where there is a risk of infection, including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, second degree burns, donor sites, postoperative wounds and skin abrasions.
Biatain® Silicone Ag can be used in combination with compression therapy.

Conformable 3D foam dressing

When in contact with exudate, the 3D polymer foam conforms to the wound bed to ensure optimal absorption and release of silver ions into the dressing. (ref: 1,2,7)
Biatain Silicone Ag conforms to the wound bed, hereby minimizing dead space and exudate pooling and thus reducing the risk of infections. (ref: 3)
Biatain Silicone Ag absorbs exudate vertically with high retention capacity under compression, reducing the risk of peri-wound skin damage caused by maceration.

Patented silver complex - broad antimicrobial effect

Biatain Silicone Ag contains a patented silver complex with broad antimicrobial profile.
This silver complex is effective on bacteria commonly found in infected wounds, including MRSA, VRE, ESBL and Pseudomonas. (ref: 4, 5)
Silver is released in the dressing upon contact with wound exudate during the entire wear time of the dressing (up to 7 days) (ref: 1,2)
Use of an antimicrobial dressing with sustained silver release has been shown to significantly improve healing rates of infected wounds (ref. Senet, et al 6)

Secure fit

The new design with soft silicone adhesive contact layer provides a secure fit to keep the dressing in place while ensuring atraumatic removal with minimal pain.

Non-touch opening

Biatain Silicone Ag has a new 3-piece non-touch opening to allow aseptic and easy application.

Soft, flexible and comfortable

The soft and flexible design of Biatain Silicone Ag ensures a close fit to wound and body, making it comfortable to wear – even under compression.

Bacteria and waterproof

The semi-permeable topfilm is both bacteria- and waterproof.

Mode of action

Upon contact with the exudate, silver is released to the dressing in a sustained manner during the entire wear time of the dressing, killing bacteria commonly found in infected wounds, including MRSA, VRE, ESBL, and Pseudomonas (ref 4,5)

Product composition

Biatain Silicone Ag is a soft, flexible and conformable polyurethane foam dressing with a patented silver complex, a semi-permeable, water- and bacteria proof top film and soft silicone adhesive.
